Letter from Our Founder: Cultivating Gratitude

We all need to take a Deep Breath! Take one now.

On the Sound Mind Box Blog, we will discuss all things related to self-care and improving our mental health.

November is a perfect time to think about and discuss Gratitude! Gratitude is a feeling of showing appreciation of kindness. What does gratitude have to
do with improving your mental health? Gratitude is a complex emotional response that includes recognizing and appreciating the positive aspects of life, people or expressions. The expressions show up in multiple ways:

Emotional Response-feelings of happiness and contentment.

Behavioral Aspects-leads to actions, expressing thanks and or helping others.

Cognitive Component-reflections of positive experiences and the recognition of the contributions of others in your life. Research indicates practicing gratitude has multiple psychological benefits:

  • Reducing stress
  • Improved mood
  • Developing deeper personal relationships

Take some time now, to think about and do something that makes you feel content. Do something to express thanks or volunteer to help others that are in need, it will do as much for you as it does for those you are helping. Be mindful of those who do special things for you or make you feel seen, spend more of your quality time with these important people in your life.

We would love to hear from you, share with us what you are grateful for.
